The Ministry of Health has insisted that the Linda Mama initiative for pregnant mothers remains active and free in all hospitals throughout the country.
This comes after constant rumours that it was abolished after the Kenya Kwanza Government took over the country’s leadership.
Mrs. Tessie Mudavadi, wife of Prime Minister CS Musalia Mudavadi, delivered a speech on World Health Day at Jacaranda Hospital in Ruaka Kiambu county, urging all women who were in the process of giving birth to take advantage of the Linda Mama programme and ignore rumors.

She lauded the move by the hospital and appealed to the hundreds of women who were there seeking attention to feel free as they went on the process.
Ahadi Kenya CEO Stanley Kamau, a participant in the initiative, stated that those seeking consultations and examinations would be provided for free until they finally delivered.
Kamau further appealed to them to fully utilise the Linda Mama Card and for those without apply for NHIF cards which were going for free .
The Linda Mama programme was introduced by the former first lady, Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta to curb infant mortality and aid in eradicating home births.
