Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife Dorcas Rigathi hosted popular boy band Sauti Sol on Monday in Gaborone, Botswana, where he is attending the Forbes 30 Under 30 Africa Summit.
The second in command stated on Twitter that he engaged the music stars in discussions about youth empowerment and the role they should play in its advocacy.
“We had an enriching conversation on empowerment of our youth and the role they, as mentors in their industry and elsewhere, can play in helping vulnerable young people nurture and sharpen their talent to fruition,” said Gachagua.
“We also explored possibilities of working together to guide and help rescue young people lost in illicit brews and substance abuse so that they can lead meaningful lives.”
Sauti Sol, according to Gachagua, is set to participate in the summit.
Forbes 30 Under 30 honors outstanding young (under 30 years old) innovators in Technology, Creative Culture, Sports, Health, and Science, among other fields.
At least four Kenyans were awarded in 2022 and one in 2023.
The summit kicked off on Sunday and is set to end on Wednesday.
