In a heated exchange of words on social media, controversial politician Moses Kuria took a swipe at popular comedian Eric Omondi for his criticism of the government’s affordable housing initiative.

Kuria, known for his blunt and unfiltered remarks, made headlines once again by questioning Omondi’s priorities and recounting an incident from seven years ago.

The saga began when Omondi posted a scathing comment on his social media platform, expressing his disappointment with the government’s focus on housing rather than addressing more pressing issues. In his post, Omondi wrote, “We must call out the Kenya Kwanza Government for lying to Kenyans. The President promised us a BETTER LIFE, a CHEAPER LIFE, and an EASIER LIFE, but now the Narrative has changed to Housing…No Kenyan is Homeless, what we need is food on the table, not higher taxes.”

The comedian’s comments struck a chord with his followers, who resonated with his concerns about the cost of living and the government’s shifting priorities. However, it didn’t take long for Moses Kuria, a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, to respond and challenge Omondi’s perspective.

Kuria, in a series of tweets, sarcastically referred to an incident seven years prior when he claimed to have funded Eric Omondi’s trip to the United States to broaden his horizons. “Miaka saba iliyopita nilichukua pesa yangu nikampeleka (Eric Omondi) Amerika ndio aone dunia vile iko, na sahii vile anaongea afadhali ningetumia hiyo pesa kwa sherehe,” Kuria tweeted in a nasty tweet that translates to  “Seven years ago, I took my money and sent Eric Omondi to America so he could see how the world is. But now, the way he speaks, I would have been better off using that money for celebrations.”

Kuria’s comments caused a stir on social media, with users divided over his approach. Some applauded his frankness and questioned Omondi’s gratitude, while others criticized Kuria for diverting attention away from the original issue raised by the comedian.

The government’s affordable housing initiative has been a contentious topic in Kenya, with ongoing debates about its effectiveness and impact on citizens. Supporters argue that providing affordable housing is a crucial step towards reducing homelessness and improving living standards. However, critics, like Omondi, believe that the government should prioritize more immediate concerns, such as food security and reducing the burden of taxes.
