A German recruiting consultant firm is poised to interview young Kenyans with Technical and vocation skills for various industries in Germany as part of a labour migration programme the Government has partnered with Germany.

Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mr. Ezekiel Machogu held consultations with Mr. Volker Falchi, Managing Director for BBW Group, a Vocational education and training company who paid a courtesy call on him in his office at Jogoo House yesterday. Present during the occasion were the Principal Secretary for Higher Education & Research, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, the Principal Secretary for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), senior officials in the Ministries of education, Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs and Labour.

Mr.  Machogu said Kenya has developed a pool of well-trained young people who have the technical competencies and skills to work anywhere in the world.

He said the government had established a strong Technical Vocational and Training system with a training experience, noting that the firm will get the people with the skills it is looking for.

Mr. Falch said his company wants to recruit 250,000 people around the world for various industries in Germany, saying his company wants to recruit Kenyans to be part of the 250,000 employees to meet the human resource needs of his country.

Mr. Falch said that potential candidates for recruitment should have the right work ethic, demonstrate ability to learn German language and also have the necessary technical competencies and skills industries in German need.

Falch said a country cannot invest or attract investment without skilled workers. He, however, said that a country succeeds in getting skilled workers when it links training and industry.

Falch said an education and training environment that encourages critical thinking enables students to acquire, use and to multiply the knowledge and competencies they acquired at school and at the place of work.

The initial areas of interest are in electrical & Electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, welding & Fabrication and mechatronics.
