CS Mudavadi stated during the handover ceremony at the Kenya Railways Headquarters on Tuesday that he will continue and even improve on the work that Mr. Mutua began in advancing the nation’s growth and development.
“I will leverage our position as guarantor of regional peace. I will pursue free trade area and other regional economic blocks,” said Mudavadi.
“Whenever any Kenyan in the diaspora will be in distress, we deploy diplomatic tools to ensure the protection of our people.”
CS Mutua, for his part, expressed confidence that he will leave behind a well-established ministry, noting that he has made strides in championing for growth both internationally and regionally.

“It was an honour to advance Kenya’s interests on the international scene. I championed for peace and security as well as regional development,” he said.
He added that he will ensure that there exists a cordial relationship between the two ministries which he believes will be key in reviving the tourism sector.
“My ministry will work together with Mudavadi to bring back tourism. I will be counting a lot on you (Mudavadi),” he said.
This comes after President William Ruto made a reshuffle in his cabinet, which saw Mudavadi’s office expanded with the mandate to head the Foreign Affairs docket.
Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said the additional role assigned to Mudavadi was aimed at promoting Kenya’s national interests.
He said these interests will be both in the global stage and strengthening strategic partnerships with other countries through both bilateral and multilateral efforts.
On Friday, Koskei said the Public Service Commission had designated ministries and state departments to new office space following the Cabinet reshuffle.
He said Mudavadi’s office had been moved to the Old Treasury Building just across the Railways Headquarters.
