With a staggering 122 million views, Diamond Platnumz claims the top spot in the list of “Most Streamed Artists On YouTube Kenya In 2023.”
This year’s survey, conducted by YouTube, showcases the stupefying adoration, that Kenyan audiences have built for Tanzanian music in lieu of embracing their own artists.
The results reveal that the love for Bongo music remains unshaken, with 70% of Kenyans tuning in to the sounds of East Africa.
Nigerian music captures 20% of the streaming market, while Kenyan music holds a solid 10%.
Diamond Platnumz’s genre-blurring music has seemingly struck a chord with Kenyan music lovers, making him a household name in the country.
This year, he’s not only the overall winner but also secured the top spot in October alone with a staggering 8.7 million views.
Rayvanny, Zuchu, Harmonize, Mbosso, Jay Melody, Msanii Music Group, Ayra Starr, Rose Muhando, and Ruger round out the top ten, showcasing the richness of African music.
In October, Zuchu, the Tanzanian songstress, came in strong with 7.02 million views, while Guardian Angel, a Kenyan gospel artist, found his place among the top three with 5.56 million views.
Rayvanny, Harmonize, and Jux maintained their popularity, each securing over 5 million views for their music.
