Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has issued a stern warning to leaders in Lamu, ranging from the Governor to the Members of County Assembly, cautioning against making statements and delivering speeches that could inadvertently support terrorist organizations that pose a significant threat to the coastal town.
Duale, in his capacity as a representative of the government, has vowed to take decisive action against leaders who engage in warmongering rhetoric, all while emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to combatting terrorism in the region.
Expressing his desire for Lamu to emulate the successful strategies employed by counties such as Garissa, Tana River, Mandera, and Wajir, which have historically been vulnerable to terror-related incidents, Duale underscored the importance of unity among leaders in curbing this menace.
He also stressed the need for security agencies to collaborate closely with local leaders to facilitate Lamu’s recovery from the recent devastating terrorist attacks that have afflicted the region.
