The family of slain Kisii Polytechnic student Lucy Boke says the main suspect killed their daughter after she turned him down on grounds that they were actually related.
Lucy’s family members have expressed shock over the murder of the young woman who they say had a promising future.
According to Citizen TV, Boke’s family is yet to come to terms and is still in utter shock following the gruesome killing of their first daughter.
“Msichana wangu ameng’ang’ana kusoma hajamaliza ata term moja ndio akauawa na huyo kijana,” Amina Nyihembe, Boke’s mother said.
Suspect was related to the deceased
It’s now emerging that the suspect was related to the deceased even though they had previously been in a romantic relationship.
Boke’s family says their daughter refused to be married to her relative, something that did not sit well with Orengo.
“Familia ya kijana wako na uhusiano na hii familia na wote tulikataa wasioane na hata msichana pia alikuja kukataa, kijana naye alikataa kuskia akajitia moyo kutaka kumuoa akakasirika alipokataliwa na kuenda Kisii na kumuua,”
Ngwen Mtatiro, Boke’s uncle said.
Disagreement on where to bury her body
The two families, despite flagging the relationship, are not in agreement on where Boke’s body will be interred.
“Ile familia ya kijana inakuja hapa eti wanataka mwili wa Boke waweze kuzika sisi hatutakubali na tunataka serikali iingilie swala hili tupate haki,”
Vincent Chacha, Boke’s brother stated.
“Naomba pia nisaidiwe jinsi ya kulea mtoto wa Boke ambaye ameachwa akiwa na umri wa miezi kumi tu,”
her mother added.
On Tuesday, Orengo will be presented before Kisii Law Courts to answer to charges on the murder.
