- Jubilee Party’s Kioni claims decline in UDA popularity in Mt Kenya region
- Voters express dissatisfaction, hinting at non-support for President Ruto’s re-election in 2027
- Allegations of UDA rigging in 2022; Jubilee vows to prevent vote manipulation in 2027
Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni asserted that President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has experienced a decline in popularity within the Mt Kenya region.
Kioni expressed his views on the upcoming 2027 general elections, stating, “Voters from Mt Kenya region will not support the re-election of President William Ruto. Almost 100 percent of people from Mt Kenya have said enough is enough.”
During the interview, Kioni claimed that despite voting for the Kenya Kwanza government, residents from the region were disappointed with the administration. He emphasized that, although they did not participate in street protests, the sentiment of dissatisfaction among the people could not be ignored.
“They didn’t come out during demonstrations that were there, and may not even take part in future protests, but the people who will force the guy (Ruto) out is Mt Kenya,” Kioni insisted.
Furthermore, Kioni alleged that UDA rigged votes in the Mt Kenya region during the August 2022 general elections. He attributed this to the Jubilee party’s failure to select reliable agents, who were purportedly compromised during the electoral process.
“Voters from the region voted for Ruto, but Mt Kenya was also heavily used to rig elections in 2022,” he claimed.
However, Kioni assured that the Jubilee party, in collaboration with residents from the Mt Kenya region, would take measures to prevent any vote manipulation in the upcoming 2027 elections.
