The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) will today disburse artiste royalties for 2023 in proportions never witnessed in history.
The First Lady of Kenya Mama Rachael Ruto will this morning preside over the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) royalties distribution for Quarter One of 2024 at Safari Park hotel.
According to MCSK, artists will receive close to a Million shillings in the new payout rates and distribution. Her Excellency Mama Rachael Ruto will hand over cheques to the top earners in the following categories:Legends, Upcoming artists, Artists with disabilities, Top Gospel artists nationally. Top secular artists nationally Top performing artistes like Otile Brown, Sauti Sol and Nyashinski are expected to feature among the top earners among the 16,000 members of the music body.

Interestingly, popular artistes who have never earned a dime from MCSK like Steve Simple Boy, Marakwet Daughter (Mali Safi Chito) and Ssaru will for the first time earn from their popular hits.
New earning clusters will also see artists living with disability rake in from their craft. Popular Musicians with special need like Reuben Kigame, and Denno will also feature in this category. Legendary artistes like Mary Wambui, Agnes Masika, Ruth Wamuyu are expected to earn from today’s distribution. Firirinda hitmaker Dickson Munyonyi, who passed is also expected to earn following the resurgent success of his song.
Top Regional acts like Diamond Plantnumz, Zabron Singers, and Israel mbonyi also feature among top foreign earner whose royalties are collected by an agent.
The event brings together top earners from all the regions in Kenya as well as representatives of the Departmental Committee of Parliament in charge of Sports, Culture and Heritage, Ministry of Gender, Culture, Heritage and the Arts, the Kenya Copyright Board and international organisations to which MCSK is affiliated.
