Kiambu – Two people have been confirmed dead, and at least 10 others have been injured following an early morning accident along the James Gichuru Rironi highway.
In the accident reported at Muguga in Kikuyu, the driver allegedly lost control of the Nairobi-bound bus, hitting the truck from behind.
Confirming the incident, Kikuyu Police Commander Ronald Kirui said the 62-seater bus belonging to Eldoret Express Company rammed into a stationary fuel tanker at around 5.30 am.
He urged drivers to exercise caution while using the road, explaining that the visibility was poor and the road was wet due to the heavy rains.
“We had two fatalities, and more than ten were rushed to hospitals. The area is now wet due to rain, and we urge drivers to be careful,” said the police boss.
A report by Citizen Digital indicated the injured were taken to several hospitals in the Kikuyu area.
“As of now, we cannot tell what really caused the accident, but our traffic officers have embarked on investigations,” he added.
