Mercedes had a rough F1 season finishing third in the constructors Championship as well as having both drivers out of the top three in the driver standing.While most blame goes to drivers for not performing,this was hardly the case seeing they have a seven times World Champion alongside a formidable driver who finished two places ahead of the Champion.

Mercedes bitter rivals would go ahead to win the championship almost with a landslide with Red Bull top driver,Max Verstappen becoming a second world Champion.Ferrari would come in second leaving Mercedes to third position.
With the winter break fast approaching and preparations for the 2023 season kicking off,it was expected that Mercedes would put the season behind and produce a car to reckon with.
The 2023 season officially starts on Sunday afternoon in Bahrain and the preseason testing has been going on for at least a week.The first 2023 season practice was done on Friday afternoon and things are not looking good for Mercedes.
Red Bull seemingly have improved their 2022 car than ran almost undisputed for a whole year with two time world champion Max Verstappen claiming that the car is quick in all way possible.
Mercedes on the other hand might have a similar situation as last season with Lewis Hamilton and seven times World Champion finishing as P8 on Friday evening during practice.He later claimed that they are not where they wanted to start the season.Hamilton teammate also echoed the same saying its going to be a challenging weekend if they want to fight for pole victory.
All hope is not lost for Russell and Hamilton who believe that a way back is possible just like last season last gasp recovery which earned them a one two finish.The team believes the biggest problem from last season has been dealt with which was high speed bouncing due to aerodynamics flaw.
Lewis Hamilton is however at the end of his contract with Mercedes but he believes he can stay no matter the circumstances facing the team.
