  • Despite the glorious appearance on the list, Akothee faulted the Bing Producers behind the list, saying they were wrong as she had ascended from that status a long time ago and was now a ‘manager of wealth’.

Singer Esther Akoth alias Akothee has trashed the supposed list containing the richest musicians in East Africa despite her glorious appearance on it.

The Kula Ngoma hitmaker controversially argues she no longer wishes to be part of that list. Rather, she explains she will be more at home appearing on the wealthiest list of musicians.

Akothee who seemed to question the Bing producers for putting together the said list, said she had transcended from being rich and wealth to a position more higher than that possibly ‘wealthiest of richest’.

However the definition of rich and wealth is the same, as per a number of dictionaries and her statement remain bizarrely unclear.

Akothee was fourth in the rich list compiled by Forbes with a reported net worth of 7.5 million dollars.

Born on 8th of April 1983 Akothee has made it big,  both in the music industry and business. She is the founder of Akothee Safaris, a tour company based in Kenya, the Akothee Foundation, a charity, Akothee Homes, a real estate business, among others.

Last year, she was also among the business moguls named among the richest in Africa. She was also featured in a recent research that named her among the richest in East Africa. But she’s not contented with the list.

She topped the Kenyan list and was followed by Jaguar, a singer and politician, real name Charles Njagua who is reported to be worth 7 million dollars.

Ugandan singer-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine leads the Forbes list with a net worth of 9.6 million dollars.

Reacting to the post, she bragged of the opportunity saying she had been named not as the richest female artist but artists in general.

The single mother of four, who has recently announced she will soon be getting married, then took a swipe at her critics saying they would coin a narrative that she paid Forbes to be on the list.

“Anyway I am not Kenyan, they deported me long time ago. They exchanegd me with several artists they admire. They even gave me out together with my children and my dogs. The problem is Akothee is the only one available.” she said in an earlier post.
