Azziad, who celebrated the new year in Germany, emphasized the importance for creators to be mindful of fans who doubt them during their initial stages and encouraged them not to lose focus despite encountering such lack of support.

The 23 year old creator said she used to plead with fans to purchase theatre tickets to no avail because a section of fans like to step aside and watch whether you are going to make it or not.

Azziad who was speaking during the Zynergy Point content creators forum, said that while some fans don’t believe in you and even fail to support you during your younger days, they later on come to claim that they used to attend your shows while saying that they’ve been with you all along.

She urged creators to remain vigilant if they have chosen to walk the content creation path and ensure negative opinions from fans don’t be the reason why they stop.

Azziad noted that content creation has now become easier because creators like Njugush and Awinja who came way before have set a good pace.

Content Creators being Exploited

Expressing her worry about content creators being exploited, she noted instances where a creator is paid a mere Ksh 2000 for a campaign—a sum she deemed paltry and insufficient even to cover an Uber ride.

Azziad praised the Zynergypoint creators platform and said that it was created last year with an aim of professionalizing content creation.

Its masterclasses, she said will be part of a new facelift that is being rolled out to empower Kenyan creators with the skills, much-needed to thrive creators in the 21st century.
