The Boxing Federation of Kenya has released the list of athletes that will represent the country in the Africa Zone Three Boxing Championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The championships will be held on April 18 to 22.
The team which has 21 boxers; 13 men and 8 women have intensified their training with the competition

According to Musa, the training is well even after the women joined from India where they were participating in the world Championship. The men will also use the Zone Three Championship to prepare themselves for the upcoming world championships to be held next month.
Among the male boxers who made it to the team are Boniface Mugunda, David Karanja, Shaffi Bakari, and Samuel Njau.
‘We are stepping up our preparations very well and we thank God for that. Preparations and even competitions are not easy, you have to dedicate yourself fully which is what we are doing for now at Mathare depot,’ Said Mugunda.
The women’s Team includes Frizah Anyango, Amina Martha, Elizabeth Andiego, and Christine Ongare.
Ongare hopes that she will succeed in Tanzania siting that she has had many challenges before in Zone 3. ‘I have to work extra hard to succeed and even if I get gold in any Africa Championships, my dream still remains to win gold outside Africa,’ she added.
Kenya finished second in last year’s completion held in the Democratic Republic of Congo after winning 18 medals while the hosts won the overall title.
