- The union of European football association UEFA, has confirmed that popular afrobeats sensation, Burna Boy, will grace the leagues kick off show at a ceremonial event in Istanbul this June.

Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling singer Burna Boy will have the rare chance of making a performance at the highly anticipated 2023 UEFA Champions League Final tournament, at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on Saturday 10 June.
Burna boy a native African boy, who rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”; a lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E, is now famed for global chart-topping hits like common person and plenty. The artist who will be the lead perfomer will belt out his sensational afrobeat vibes to millions of fans in what is considered the biggest club fixture in football.
‘The world isn’t ready for what we have in store,” Burna Boy wrote on his twitter, when he was hit with the news about his invitation to co-headline the big event, run and funded by Pepsi.
“As a huge football fan, myself, I know it doesn’t get any bigger than the UEFA Champions League. That’s why I’m so excited to be performing on the Pepsi stage at this year’s final. Music and football are the ultimate combination, so you already know I’ll be bringing the vibes and making magic in Istanbul. The world isn’t ready for what we have in store. He added.
So far, the championship which is entering its seventh year and which was once known as the UEFA opening ceremony, will once again coalesce the allure of sports, culture and music to pull out a once in a life time performance.
However other performers slated to make presentations, will be announced before the due date of the event.
The UEFA marketing director, Guy-Laurent Epstein in a statement, said their partnership with the beverage company Pepsi was aimed at inching closer to bigger audiences and would not hesitate to utilize upcoming musicians who were breaking the records in their unmatched genres of music. “The UEFA Champions League Final Kick Off Show is a significant part of our joint efforts with Pepsi, providing an incredible opportunity to reach new and younger audiences with the some of the biggest names and rising stars in music. We’re excited to showcase a line-up of talented artists at this season’s final in Istanbul in what is sure to be an energetic and memorable performance.” said Epstein.
