Citizen TVs Yvonne Okwara Appointed Chair of Enactus Kenya Business Advisory Council

 

  • The prime news anchor has been ordained as the new board chair of the leading business advisory council in efforts by the NGO to improve youth entrepreneurship.
  • The company mainly works with institutions of higher learning to where their primal target audiences are.
  • Okwara will serve at the helm of the organization’s leadership for a period of four years after which a new board chair will be appointed.

Citizen TV’s Senior News Anchor and Business Editor, Yvonne Okwara, has been ordained as the new Chair of Enactus Kenya Business Advisory Council, a leading non-governmental organization, that focuses on shaping youth into entrepreneurial leaders.

The lead anchor will hold the position for a period of four years, upon which a new chair will be appointed.

While giving her the instruments of power, Enactus Kenya  lauded the top journalists previous achievements saying her qualifications will exceedingly match their expectations.

On her part, Okwara also shared her enthusiasm, admitting that the NGO had created huge impact in the country in terms of transforming youth’s raw energy, skills, and ambitions. For that she vowed to commit working with both of the organizations teams and students to build ingenious, high-impact sustainable social investments that will give rise to a substantial difference.

Well-known celebrities,  including veteran journalist John Allan Namu and former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Roselyn Akombe, mailed their congratulations to Okwara. Akombe hailed Okwara’s accomplishment, stating, “Investing in our young women and men is where we can make a difference. Proud of you as always!”

Enactus is a distinguished global organization of entrepreneurial activities and leaders whose main aim is to empower students with real-life experiences through community outreach operations and thrilling annual business contests.

For 14 years, the organization has been coaching youth on how to come up with creative ideas that favour the thriving of investments as a way of bridging the local business sector and the higher education sector.

Okwara’s 15-year experience in a fast-paced media house comes in handy in navigating the much dancing hurdles that such NGOs face in bid to harmonize the business sector to sit right with University and college students.

 

Her coming of age commenced in 2008 when she was a content producer for NTV after which she relocated to KTN as a Senior News Anchor and Head of News Strategy at. She joined Citizen TV where she came face to face with her limelight including the recent appointment as chair of the enacts Kenya board.
