Tanzania’s celebrated music artist, Diamond Platnumz, recently disclosed that he fell prey to a substantial financial scam, amounting to a staggering Ksh 240 million (approximately $2.4 million), during his quest to acquire a personal private jet.
This revelation came as he clarified to his fans why he continues to rely on rented private jets instead of the much-anticipated private aircraft he had previously announced.
Diamond Platnumz explained that the duplicitous individual responsible for the swindle was none other than the agent he had entrusted with facilitating the purchase of his private jet.
In recounting the ordeal, he lamented the loss of approximately Tsh 4 billion, attributing it to the deceitful actions of this agent.
He promptly reported the fraudulent transaction to Tanzanian authorities, who have since initiated an investigation into the matter.
In his own words, Diamond Platnumz affirmed,
“The government knows, if you are conned that amount of money you would go crazy.”
He also revealed that, following these unsettling events, he has begun to receive payments in installments towards the acquisition of his private jet, which was initially expected to land in August of the preceding year but had been delayed.
He expressed his dismay over the situation, as it portrayed his prior announcement as misleading.
This revelation comes as a significant development, considering that in May of 2022, Diamond Platnumz had enthusiastically shared his plans to procure a private jet, following the acquisition of a 2021 Rolls Royce Black Badge the previous year.
