• DJ Fatxo has stated that he is willing to work with detectives to bring the issue of Geoffrey Mwathi’s death to rest
• He explained that he has been trying to reach Jeff’s family but his efforts were futile

Kikuyu entertainer DJ Fatxo denied links to the late Geoffrey Mwathi’s death while speaking to the media on Sunday.

DJ Fatxo has stated that he is willing to work with detectives to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of interior designer Geoffrey Mwathi alias ‘Jeff,’ who died under mysterious circumstances while staying at the DJ’s Redwood apartment on Thika Road.
DJ Fatxo told the media from the Greenspot Gardens that he had known Jeff since 2021 because he used to buy shoes from him.
He claimed to have met the late Jeff several times and to have purchased many pairs of sneakers from his shop.
According to the DJ, on the fateful day, he left his house with three ladies and returned to his apartment three hours later to find Jeff nowhere to be found.
“After coming home and realizing that Jeff was not with them, I was the one who went to the police station to report that Jeff was missing,” DJ Fatxo said.
At the same time, the DJ responded to claims that he had not mourned the late Jeff, saying that, contrary to social media claims, he had reached out to the family and offered to contribute to the burial plans.
At the same time, he said he was not able to attend Jeff’s funeral as the case had taken a turn and he was not sure of his safety.
He claims that after he received no response from the family, he asked his mother to contact Jeff’s family to see if there was any way they could help them.
“I had called the family at least 8 times, and when I could not reach them, I had my mom try and reach them,” DJ Fatxo said.
“Maybe Mama Jeff hakufikiwa na ripoti that niilkuwa nataka tupatane, the other thing is that I’m so willing to coperate with detectives, DCI.. kila mtu mwenye ako hapo hivo ili tupate ukweli,”
Meanwhile, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are looking into the circumstances surrounding the late Jeff’s death, amid claims that he died after falling from a window in DJ Fatxo’s house.
In a statement on Friday, CS Kindiki directed the DCI boss to involve the expertise of homicide detectives to help solve the case.
“On the matter of the late Jeff Mwathi, I have spoken to the DCI Mr Amin this morning and instructed him to send a homicide team from the DCI headquarters to thoroughly investigate the incident and take the necessary action,” the CS wrote.
“I thank the DCI for his quick action on this matter. The homicide team from the DCI headquarters is dispassionate, and this will help resolve the claims of collusion at Kasarani Police Station where the matter was reported.”
The DCI has since confirmed taking over the matter.
“Detectives from the Homicide department based at DCI Headquarters, have this morning taken over investigations into the death of 23-year-old Jeff Mwathi, from Kasarani police station,” said the DCI in a tweet.
