Comedian Eric Omondi, launched a charitable mission to assist a smokie-mayai vendor, Quinter Adhiambo, who suffered significant losses when city askaris seized her trolley during a recent crackdown.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 18, as part of a citywide crackdown on street vendors, resulting in the destruction of Adhiambo’s foodstuff, including her eggs and smokie merchandise.

Adhiambo’s plight caught the attention of Eric Omondi, who leveraged his substantial social media following to rally support for the distressed vendor.

Using his Instagram platform, Omondi posted photos of Quinter Adhiambo, expressing his intent to make a positive change in her life.

He captioned the images, “I am looking for this woman. We are going to change her life totally. Wakiangusha tunainua.”

Shortly thereafter, Eric Omondi urged fellow Kenyans to join him in raising funds for Adhiambo’s benefit, sharing her contact details.

His post read, “I have found Quinter, and we are going live in a few. We are going to change her life totally. Start sending money to her number.”

Omondi orchestrated the fundraising effort, which spanned approximately three hours, resulting in the collection of KSh 556,000 during that brief period.

However, the total amount raised has now reached 600,000 Kenyan shillings, with generous Kenyans continuing to contribute.

Omondi has also revealed his ambition to help Quinter Adhiambo achieve a life-changing milestone of 1 million Kenya shillings.

In a post shared on Eric Omondi’s social media, the comedian is seen sitting beside Quinter Adhiambo, the beneficiary of the funds raised during this initiative.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja also weighed in on the situation, offering his apologies to the affected traders and providing Sh10,000 each to alleviate their immediate hardships.

Eric Omondi’s philanthropic endeavor has not only brought relief to a vendor in need but has also showcased the power of social media and collective action in making a positive impact on the lives of Kenyans affected by such circumstances.
