Radio personality Fred Machoka, celebrated for his iconic radio show ‘Roga Roga,’ recently offered his insights on the increasing trend of young individuals veering away from the path of marriage and settling down.
In recent times, a noticeable shift in the mindset of the younger generation regarding the institution of marriage has surfaced, particularly within urban environments.
This shift has ignited conversations and deliberations regarding the contemporary relevance of this age-old tradition.
Fred Ombachi Machoka, affectionately known as Uncle Fred, addressed this burgeoning concern with a tone of caution, emphasizing that while some young people may opt to postpone or forgo marriage, they should be mindful of the potential long-term ramifications.
He underscored that youth is a fleeting phase and that protracted delays might lead to regrets.
In his own words,
“Mimi naambia watu oa ama uolewe kama wakati umefika, kama hujapata its understandable, lakini wacha kuranda randa ukisema I don’t need a man or a woman.”
Machoka also accentuated the significance of having a life partner, recognizing that life can present challenges, and having a companion to share the journey can be of immeasurable value.
He stated,
“Ujana ni moshi ukienda hurudi tena, so listen to me and listen good, let me tell you things can get thick, sisi ndio tuko site, sikiliza.”
Fred Obachi Machoka isn’t just dispensing advice; he stands as a living testament to the enduring strength of love and commitment.
He has been happily married to his wife Sophie for over four decades and is the proud parent of four grown children.
Machoka revealed that he experienced love at first sight with his wife, and their union has only grown more robust over the years.
In his words in a previous event he inisted,
“Some people say that love at first sight doesn’t last, don’t believe them! I met a young, beautiful girl in the 20th century, and we fell in love instantly. Now, in the 21st century, we are still as tight, if not tighter! What does that say… love at first sight can last for centuries, Mungu akipenda.”
The couple is set to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary in November.
