Fred Matiang’i Arrives at DCI Headquarters Accompanied by Buffer of Lawyers, Azimio politicians

Former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i finally appears before the DCI

• Matiang’i was summoned by the DCI for grilling, concerning the February 8 raid that allegedly took place at his Karen home

• The former CS was in the company of elected leaders and his allies including his former Defence colleague Eugene Wamalwa

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Tuesday, March 7, honoured his summons by arriving at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) minutes after 8 am.

There was commotion at the entrance of the headquarters along Kiambu Road after Matiang’i’s vehicle dropped him a few metres from the main gate.

His entourage could be heard questioning why the Government agency had chosen to have the former CS access the premises on foot.

The former CS was in the company of elected leaders and his allies including his former Defence colleague Eugene Wamalwa.

His legal team was led by lawyer Danstan Omari among other lawyers.

Also in the company of Matiang’i were Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mogeni, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka.

Despite arriving at the premises, the former CS was still not allowed to the premises given his massive entourage.

Matiang’i’s legal team was then asked to draft a list of all the lawyers for approval before gaining access to the investigative agency along Kiambu Road.

Senator Mogeni was tasked with drafting a list of the lawyers that was then submitted to DCI.

You can block the supporters but allow the lawyers to go in,” Mogeni stated.

The former CS had been summoned to appear before the DCI at 9:30 am for questioning over an alleged police raid that took place at his Karen home on February 8.

However, his legal team led by lawyer Omari maintained that they would present their client at 8 am to answer the questions of the detectives.

The CS is being investigated for allegedly publishing false information regarding a police raid on February 8 which they denied took place.
