Gatundu Women Protest Over Invasion Of Kenyatta Family’s Northlands City

Chaos by Gatundu women over the Northlands farm saga.

• The women took issue the destruction of property worth millions of shillings saying it could have been avoided.

• The raid’s aftermath saw dozens of sheep stolen, trees cut down and later a portion of the property burn down.

A section of women from Gatundu South in Kiambu County want government to apologise to Mama Ngina Kenyatta for failing to protect her property following the invasion witnessed on Monday at the Northands City, in Kiambu County.

Speaking after holding protests on Wednesday, the women took issue with DP Gachagua, alleging that his inaction led to the destruction of property worth millions of shillings.

Led by Ruth Njeri Gichuri, the irked women demanded to know the debts that Mama Ngina Kenyatta and her family owes to the country so that they can join hands and help them pay to avert further victimisation and mistreatment.

The invasion poses a threat to our lives and property because the invaders might also come to our homes,” said Njeri.

We want the deputy president, because he is our son and brother, to apologize to Mama Ngina. And she should also be given state security to protect them.”

Priscilla Wanjiru added that appropriate action should be taken on the invaders, to act as a lesson to those intending to be involved in such acts in the coming days.

We are greatly disappointed by the invasion and we would want Mana Ngina’s property to be protected by President Ruto,” she said.

Those who were involved in the looting should also be held accountable.”

The women lamented that the delayed response by the police to the malady was a clear indication that the invasion was scripted to abet the thuggery acts which they decried as having painted the country’s image in bad light.

They also argued that the Kenyatta family deserves respect and honour, claiming that they have paid huge prices to liberate the country from colonialism and have gone further to institute key developments that Kenyans are now enjoying.

The raid’s aftermath saw dozens of sheep stolen, trees cut down and later a portion of the property burn down.

Officers who arrived at the premise found several temporary iron sheet shacks erected by the invaders, as well as what appeared to have been a subdivision on the said land.

Leaders have engaged in a week-long blame game on who is behind the invasion, with top political names being fronted. Some have since distanced themselves from the accusations.

Reconstruction of the damaged areas has begun.
