Kenya’s Harambee Stars are set to return to action after spending one year away from international football.Kenya had been banned by football governing body ,FIFA due to third party interference.
The ban came on February 2022 and now Kenya is ready to play again.The ban came at a time when Kenya was preparing to Play Africa Cup Of Nations qualification in what turned to be a big blow to local talents.
Harambee Stars will be keen to hit the road running but face an uphill battle in the first away match.
Kenya will be hosted by Iran on 28th March 2022.
Iran are currently ranked 24th on the Fifa ranking and have been consistent in making appearances in the World Cup. They last appearance in 2022 saw them edge out Lionel Messi’s Argentina in what a surprising result.
Kenya though are hopeful and are ready for this kind of fixture to see where there rank among other teams.
With that Fixture coming in thick and first Kenya will start their camp on March 19th in preparation for this match.
The Harambee Stars Turkish head coach Engin Firat has announced his provisional squad that will be in training this week. Firat’s squad though has been a little bit different than what was there in the past.The squad is heavily dominated by local players and a few international based players.
Kenya Police have provided the most number of players in the squad which has veteran players as well as a few interesting debutantes.
Hassan Beja and Joseph Mwangi are among those called up for the first time due to the excellence of Nzoia sugar this season.Current Kenya Premier league top goalscorer and Gor Mahia Forward, Benson Omalla has also received his first call up in order to bolster the attack that has vetaran and now captain Michael Olunga.
