Hundreds of eager residents lined the roads as early as 4 am, witnessing the unloading of goodies from several lorries at President Ruto’s Sugoi home. The atmosphere was filled with joy as long queues formed, with residents receiving packets of wheat flour, cooking oil, and rice.

Philip Lagat, a neighbor to the president, expressed his astonishment at the overwhelming turnout, stating, “I was really shocked; people as far as Chepterwai in Nandi, Kakamega, and Trans Nzoia counties were here very early in the morning. I think Kenyans are really suffering due to hard economic times.”

Lagat noted that while the president has been holding similar events in previous years, the magnitude of this year’s attendance was unprecedented.

President Ruto, addressing the crowd, called on Kenyans to maintain a positive outlook on the nation, stating, “Challenges are being resolved.” Despite acknowledging ongoing economic recovery, he urged Kenyans to remain optimistic, emphasizing that better days are ahead.

Earlier in the week, President Ruto, accompanied by the First Lady Rachael Ruto and Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, hosted children from 50 homes across the county in anticipation of the upcoming Christmas season celebrations at Eldoret State Lodge.
