- The archbishop of the Anglican church of Kenya has challenged the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to bring into th light, names of public officials he had earlier on alleged to have looted public funds.
- The leader warned that such information was very sensitive as Kenyans would want to have their money back.
- He also stated that Gachagua should in good time provide evidence of the said looting as the country was fed up with looting allegations getting swept under the rags due to absence of logical conclusions.
The 6th Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya has dared the vice president to name public officials he had earlier on alleged to have looted public funds.
The arch bishop who spoke yesterday during an interview at citizen TV, said there was need for the truth regarding the alleged looting captured in the DPs words to be unearthed, so that Kenyans would be kept in the light.
His concern was stirred the DPs earlier threats to name top officials in retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government who allegedly looted at least Sh24 billion from the National Treasury.
However, Ole Sapit warned that if the revelations were not valid or otherwise lacked basis, Kenyans ought to shun them as they would be of no help particularly at a critical time like the one the country was currently under. He said the country had in several other instances came along such sensitive allegations but was never able to come up with a logical conclusion due to many reasons including the fact that some were just brought for the purposes of playing circuses.
“If there is any truth in what the DP is saying, I wish it would be unearthed so that Kenyans know the truth if it is there. If it is just another talk which has no basis, I think we should not entertain Kenyans on talks that have no basis” he said during the interview.
Mr Gachagua who had spoken the day before during a church service in Nairobi affirmed that he had not gone out of his mind during their inauguration ceremony last year when he said that the Kenya kwanza administration had assumed empty public coffers from U8hurus government.
The former Mathira MP who even went further to clarify that the perpetrators were former cabinet and principal secretaries, said Kenya had in just a short period of time lost over Kshs 24 million at the mercy of the alleged looters.
“In the next few days, I will be releasing details of billions of shillings looted from public coffers in the last three months of the Uhuru administration, I will announce the ministers and PSs responsible so that Kenyans can know.” Said Mr. Gachagua during the Sunday event.
