Johnson Sakaja Endorses Edwin Sifuna as His Replacement, Says He Can Make Good Governor

 

  • Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has endorsed Senator Edwin Sifuna as one of the candidates he would prefer to take over the counties’ top job once his tenure expires.
  • Sakaja hailed Sifuna as a great leader who with no doubt, had the aptitudes to steer Nairobi to higher heights.
  • He said he would not allow trivial elements like disparities in their political parties to come up against their will to steer Nairobi to vaster tiers.

Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has endorsed senator Edwin Sifuna as the ideal candidate he would prefer to take over the cities’ top job once he tenure comes to an end.

Speaking during the Africa premier choral festival, Sakaja explained that because he had once served as the senator for Nairobi, he knew the many challenges that came with it and which he would work keenly to ensure don’t reach over to the senator Edwin Sifuna.

Recalling his experience during his senatorial term, Sakaja confessed that his office was often greatly undermined, to the extent that he was never invited to any county functions.

For this, he promised that he would never fail to include Sifuna in the county activities as he was their lawfully elected senator and a wonderful individual who they greatly cherished.

Sakaja explained that although Sifuna failed to clinch the senatorial seat he had been vying for in the 2017 polls, he finally  clinched it in the bygone 2022 polls.

He further said that they would work together to make Nairobi a great city.

Sakaja who took time to shower the senator with praise, further hailed him as one of the ‘most super’ people he had met throughout his life.

Although the two are segregated in terms of political parties Sakaja affirmed that he would not let such r trivial disparities come up against them as he considered Sifuna more of a brother to him.

For this, he said he had the conviction that Sifuna would make a very good Nairobi governor in the next ten years after which he hopes to relinquish his tenure.

The endorsement played out during the Premier Africa choir contest which Sakaja had organized alongside other leaders from Nairobi county. The event featured a tightly contested battle, with the Cathedral Youth Choir emerging victorious and awarded Sh2 million by the Sakaja.

Following the successful first edition of the event, Sakaja expressed his gratitude to the event organizers via Twitter.

In his speech, Sifuna stated clearly that it can be challenging to agree on everything, but he will always work closely with Sakaja to serve the interests of Nairobi residents, particularly in supporting artists.

As you’ve said yourself [Sakaja], it is not possible to always agree on everything but I have made a commitment as your Senator that when it comes to issues of Nairobi, like today we came to listen to our choirs, give them something to boost their talents, that one you can always count on me,” Sifuna stated.
