Kelvin Kiptum’s Mother Eulogises Him, Says She Was Hospitalised After Learning About His Death

Kelvin Kiptum’s mother, Mary Kangongo, has revealed that she was admitted to the hospital after she found out that he son had died.

Kelvin Kiptum’s last message

In an interview with BBC, Mary disclosed that she spoke to her son on the night of his death, and he was joking about the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.

The match the two were discussing involved the hosts Ivory Coast against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. with the former emerging victorious.

“He told me that I should support Nigeria, but I told him I would not be watching football as it was on too late,” she narrated.

The late athlete’s mum eulogised him as a simple and humble boy who always helped and supported people in his community.

“You would never know he was a world record holder who had made some money,” she further said.

The devasted mum also disclosed that the moment she received the tragic news, she was admitted to hospital for several days.

The record holder will be buried on February 23, and he leaves behind a widow, Asenath Rotich and two children, a seven-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.

Kiptum’s alleged baby mama in court

Earlier, Burudaniafricanews.co.ke reported that a High Court had dismissed an application seeking to stop the burial of the world marathon holder.

On  Thursday, February 22, Ednar Owuor, through her lawyer Joseph Oyaro moved to court seeking orders to stop Kiptum’s planned burial.

In her application, the 22-year-old lady claimed she sired a child who is now one-year and seven months with the late marathon record holder.
