The Kenya Rugby team has thanked Honorable Gladys Shollei for her generous contribution to the Kenyalioness leisurewear.
This is to gear the team as they look forward into a Rugby Africa Women’s 7s in Tunisia October starting from 14th-15th October.
Kenyalionesses’ head coach, Dennis Mwanja officially announced the squad that will represent Kenya in the upcoming Africa Women’s 7s tournament, set to be held in Tunis, Tunisia.
The tournament is to serve as a qualification pathway for the 2023 Paris Olympics.
The team is to be lead by Captain Grace Okulo, who has her experience from playing with the Nagato Blue Angles in Japan.
Also, the squad includes Janet Okello, a speedster from Japanese side MIE Pearls Women’s Rugby Football Club, and Chrisbel Lindo.
The roster includes Sharon Auma, Phoebe Akinyi, Judith Okumu, Diana Awino, Terry Ayesha, Naomi Amungi, Maureen Muritu and Dorcas Nyachio.
The Kenya Rugby Union earlier confirmed that a portion of kenyalioness will transition to the 15s team in Dubai for the WXV3 tournament, scheduled from October 13th to 28th.
The players who are to make it to the UEA journey are Phoebe Akinyi, Judith Okumu, Grace Adhiambo, Terry Ayesa and Sharon Auma.
During the upcoming Africa Women’s tournament, Kenyalioness will find themselves in a competitive Pool B alongside 2022 silver medalist Madagascar, Zambia and Ghana. Pool A consists of South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
This will be the third time that the Rugby Africa Women’s 7s returns to Tunisia for the third time conservatively with a single ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics at stake.
