Kenyan Lady who Bought Alexa AI Chatbot Aghast after it Failed to Identify William Ruto: “Alexa za Githurai”

In a surprising turn of events, a Kenyan woman  expressed her disbelief and frustration after purchasing an Alexa AI chatbot that failed to identify prominent political figure and  current president of Kenya Mr William Ruto.

The incident has since sparked humorous reactions, with netizens playfully dubbing the malfunctioning device “Alexa za Githurai.”

The aggrieved customer, who was on tiktok using the account @Tosh, had reportedly invested in the artificial intelligence chatbot with high hopes of seamless interactions and accurate information.

However, when asked about William Ruto, the device allegedly struggled to provide relevant details, leading to disappointment and disbelief.

Instead the Chatbot said William Ruto was a resident of Florida in the USA, leaving the lady bewildered and laughing.

Shortly before, the chatbot had as well failed to provide correct answers when asked who the president of Kenya was and responded with Uhuru Kenyatta instead of William Ruto.

Local social media platforms mainly Tiktok quickly caught wind of the incident, with netizens sharing memes and comments under the hashtag #AlexaZaGithurai.

While the authenticity of the story is yet to be verified, it has nevertheless flared online debates on the adaptability of AI technologies to regional nuances and the importance of considering cultural context in their development.

In a similar development, a tiktok lady who was on the @interviewology account, advised netizens on the correct way to respond, when a job interviewer asks them what their salary expectation is.

In the highly informative clip, the savvy lady clarified that it is important that one doesn’t make haste to respond in a number and related that to shooting oneself in the foot.

She said it was agreeable for someone to hit the interviewer with another question and ask about the amount the company is offering for the position while explaining that such questions helps one give a range that is not too high or too low.
