This was minutes after Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu released the results and directed that they can be only accessed through the KNEC website or directly through the URL: https://results.knec.ac.ke.
One is required to enter the candidate’s index number and the name(s) as per their registration data for the 2023 KCSE examination.

Upon trying to access the website the search drops to the response “This site can’t be reached” or “HTTP Error 400. The request hostname is invalid.”
Some individual candidates and schools also reported that they could not access the website. A few had managed to access the website and perused through their results.
The website downtime comes at a time when the government announced that the 2023 KCSE results will not be accessed through the SMS option which has been the customary means of receiving the results over the years.
A total of 899,453 candidates undertook the examinations with 450,554 being male while 448,899 were female.
