Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate William Lopokoiyot has granted a 21-day detention for the three suspects connected to the murder of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani, also known as Sniper.
Boniface Githinji Njihia alias DJ Kaboom, Brian Mwenda alias Bryo, and Grace Kathambi Kithinji will be held at Gigiri Police Station while the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) concludes its probe.
The victim disappeared on December 2, 2023, and his mutilated body was discovered on December 16, 2023.
Prosecutors informed the court that the police need time to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
A post-mortem examination at Marimanti Level 4 Hospital mortuary revealed that Sniper died of strangulation, with marks on his neck indicating signs of oxygen deprivation.
Government pathologist Johansen Oduor, who conducted the examination, noted additional injuries, including fractured ribs.
