In the wake of the tragic demise of Starlet Wahu, who met her unfortunate end in an Airbnb rental, Lang’ata Member of Parliament, Jalang’o, has vowed to take action within the parliamentary arena.

He intends to introduce a bill aimed at mandating all Airbnb owners to register their businesses with the government officially. The primary goal behind this proposed legislation is to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Jalang’o, while expressing his condolences for the late Starlet, emphasized the importance of caution, especially for young women when interacting with strangers.

He stressed that individuals must exercise discretion and avoid socializing with unfamiliar acquaintances.

The MP went on to disclose that he owns multiple Airbnb properties across the country. However, he intends to present a bill in parliament to regulate the operations of Airbnb establishments and ensure that Airbnb owners are held accountable for their businesses.

He stated,

Jalang’o’s impassioned statement comes in the aftermath of Starlet’s tragic demise, which unfolded in an Airbnb in the South B area of Nairobi.

The incident occurred after Starlet checked in with a man identified as John Matara. According to reports, the two had planned for a night of intimacy in the Airbnb, but matters took a dire turn when John began demanding money from Starlet for her release.

Tragically, the confrontation escalated, and John proceeded to inflict multiple stab wounds on Starlet, ultimately leading to her untimely death. Further investigations revealed that John Matara was a serial offender who had been carrying out his nefarious activities within various Airbnbs throughout the city.
