The father of Brian Mwenda, the man accused of impersonating a lawyer, has finally spoken up about his embattled son. Brian Mwenda’s father during a media interview shared on Facebook by SamsonN-Hustler, confirmed that his son went to the Kenya School of Law (KSL) and is a qualified lawyer.

He narrated Mwenda’s academic journey from primary school to the university. “He pursued a diploma course in criminology that enabled him to join Strathmore University in 2017 and graduated in 2020. In 2021, he joined the Kenya School of Law (KSL) upon which he finished in December 2022,” he explained. According to the father, Mwenda began representing his clients in court in January 2023.

His first case was representing a family member in court. He made an application for appeal but unfortunately, there was no response to his application. So, he has been working in Nairobi until recently when he told me that some people were claiming that he is not a qualified lawyer,” he added.

The man also claimed that so far, his son has won 26 cases. “This is a clear indication that my son is educated and qualified. I have no doubts in him. He has also told me that these claims are not true but we are leaving everything to the courts but justice should be delivered to him,” he further said.

Earlier, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) strongly defended itself against Njagi, accused of masquerading as a lawyer. LSK President Eric Theuri denied claims that the man in question, Brian Mwenda Njagi, won 26 cases in different courts across the country.

Allegations that the masquerader Brian Mwenda won 26 cases is false and misleading. There is no factual basis to support the misleading claims. Efforts to apprehend him are in high gear and we are optimistic that he will be brought to book,” Theuri posted on his official X account.
