In a recent incident at Port Victoria Hospital in Busia, the National Nurses Association of Kenya strongly denounced an attack on medical staff.
The union clarified that the assailant, captured on video throwing items at a nurse, is not a nursing student, as initially claimed on social media.
The statement revealed that the offender is a theatre technician student attached to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital Theatre, listed as a student from Nairobi Women Hospital.
The association, withholding the woman’s name, termed the incident extreme and unwarranted, calling on regulating authorities to promptly address the matter.
The undated video depicts an unidentified woman and man harassing hospital staff, alleging neglect of a patient.
The woman, causing chaos by throwing files and hitting a table, mentioned calling someone named “Ababu.”
Public outrage prompted Sports and Youth Affairs CS to address discussions linking him to the incident. In a social media post, CS Namwamba unequivocally condemned the actions and pledged a thorough investigation, asserting his commitment to transparency and corrective measures.
The association’s call for urgent action reflects the seriousness of the incident, urging authorities to address the matter promptly and ensure the safety and well-being of medical personnel.
