The Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has de-whipped some of its Migori County members from various county assembly committees for allegedly not supporting the political outfit’s agenda.
Among the members affected is North Kadem ward representative Olima Obonyo who has been removed as chairman of the county’s Water and Energy Committee and replaced by Brian Osodo, the MCA of Kachieng ward.
North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba, who led the county’s Health Committee, has been replaced by Kakrao ward MCA Okelo Martin.
East Kanyamkago MCA Norman Ogolla has been replaced as the chairperson in the Committee of Early Childhood and Vocational Training by Central Sakwa MCA Esther Migose.
Wasweta II MCA Erickson Omondi will also take over from West Kanyamkago MCA Peter Mijungu who has been heading the county’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.
Central Kanyamkago MCA Eunice Odi and her North Kamagambo counterpart Collins Osewe have also been removed from Migori County Assembly’s speaker panel.
The MCAs have indicated that they were de-whipped because they hosted President William Ruto during his visit to Migori County last month.
