Wandayi argued that the high cost of living is a pertinent issue that cannot be ignored which was also among the core reasons behind the Azimio la Umoja anti-government protests.

The legislator, who doubles up as the Minority leader in the National Assembly, stated that the committee must come up with effective solutions when they meet for the sittings.

That is an issue that cannot be taken out of the table and it has to be addressed in this bipartisan committee,” he said, on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show on Tuesday.

It is not enough to say that we have ordered for fertiliser. We want concrete proposals that are implementable because majority of Kenyans are suffering.”

Prior to the sitting, he added, there should be a meeting between the two parties to deliberate on the rules of engagement to guide the meeting in coming up with decisions.

This committee must be given clear terms of reference so that when it eventually comes up with recommendations they must be in line with the terms of reference,” he said.

The process was propose by Presiden Willia Rut on Sunda at a state address noting that it will help streamline the contentious issues fronted by the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Preparations for the committee meeting have already commenced as the Kenya Kwanza brigade held a meeting on Monday chaired by President Ruto where they discussed the issues the opposition had raised with the government.

President Ruto stated that he has urged the leaders to consider the proposal and address the matter effectively.
