Embattled pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Center and Church says that the decision by the Communication Authority to suspend his TV station was biased.
While defending his World Evangelism TV, Ezekiel says that he was never given a fair and impartial opportunity to defend the station against the allegations levied by the Communication Authority.
The pastor argued that he has consistently and assiduously been engaged in the dissemination of God’s holy message.
‘As an ardent preacher, my tireless efforts are aimed at making the world a better place,’ reads his affidavit.
“Rather than providing me with the requisite avenue to present a comprehensive rebuttal, the Communication Authority of Kenya has unilaterally resorted to the draconian and inequitable measure of suspending the broadcasting license, an action we maintain to be profoundly unjust,” he says.
In the affidavit, Ezekiel argues that the Authority’s decision to abruptly close his TV station, without extending any form of prior notice or granting the right to a fair hearing, stands as a glaring manifestation of discrimination and extreme unfairness.
He adds that the ministry always runs the television station to the required standards and dutifully filed the relevant documentation with the Communication Authority of Kenya.
On Monday, Mombasa High Court Judge Olga Sewe decline an application by Ezekiel, seeking to re-open the World Evangelism TV station.
Sewe said the issue should be handled by the Communications Authority, which wrote a letter to have the station shut down.
