I had a wonderful engagement with Kenyans living in Botswana, who traveled from various parts of that country to Gaborone,” he addded.

The DP however, asked them to invest back in Kenya as the President William Ruto administration will address the challenges they are facing as requested.

“I want to ask for your help. We need you to save back home. In other countries where we borrow money, they give us savings from their countrymen,” he said.

“If you agree, with a good framework, that is the money the government can borrow at interest instead of going to China. We don’t go to China because we like it. There is nowhere else we can borrow money,” Gachagua added.

The meeting was also attended by Kenya’s High Commissioner to Botswana Mohamed Shidiye, Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu and took place at the Avani Hotel in Gaborone.

The DP further said that Kenyans in Botswana supported the fight against illicit brew.

“Her Excellency Pastor Dorcas Rigathi was particularly excited that even those in Diaspora acknowledge the urgent need to end illegal brews and substance abuse for the youth to be useful again,”
